Assembly Technology for Type MU Fiberoptic Connector
The MU connector family achieves more compact and higher-density interconnections with higher optical performance than conventional technology in telecommunication equipment. These features are realized by using a 1.25mm diameter ferrule, push-pull coupling structure, pressure-free mechanism by which no load is applied to the backplane at the coupling, and other novel innovations. The MU connector has several advantages : easier operability, better cleanability, greater adaptability to backplane or PCB thickness variations, higher density (4 times as high as type SC). The MU connector can also be employed to connector fiberoptic cables, at cross-connects, for example, to achieve higher interconnection densities compared with the SC connector. We will transfer the assembly technology and characteristics data for the MU connector.
