Operating Procedures
- Expose the bare fiber by removing the coating of the fiber end to a length of about 30 mm.
- Using the V-groove plate :
Put the V-groove plate onto the holder groove and put the coated fiber end onto the V-groove so that the bare fiber is set on the rubber pads.
- Using the fiber holder :
Put the coated fiber end into a holder which usually comes with fusion or mechanical splicing tools. Put the holder onto a holder groove so that the bare fiber is set on the rubber pads.
- Clamp the bare fiber by dropping two fiber clamps.
- Move the slider (with the blade and the pushing rod) to the front. This sliding operation gives both a slight scratch and a pulling force to the bare fiber, providing a flat and mirror end-face. Then lift the clamps.
- Tilt the body and move to the left. The fiber trash is pulled and trapped into the trash case.
